Backend & API Development
The systems behind the interface
We build the systems behind the interface: REST and GraphQL APIs, business logic, data models, background jobs and event-driven services. Our engineers in Sri Lanka work in Java and Spring Boot, Go, Python and Node.js, and design backends to be understood, tested and changed by whoever maintains them next.
What we can build
- REST and GraphQL APIs
- Business logic, workflows and approvals
- Database design and migrations
- Background jobs, queues and event-driven systems
- Authentication, permissions and audit trails
Typical projects
- 1.An order and dispatch API shared by a web app, a mobile app and a partner integration
- 2.A workflow service that moves documents through review and approval steps
- 3.A reporting service that aggregates data from several systems on a schedule

Why work with a software team in Sri Lanka
Working hours that overlap yours
We work on Sri Lanka time, UTC+5:30, with no daylight saving. That covers the working day across Asia and the Middle East, mornings in Europe and afternoons in Australia and New Zealand, and we schedule early or late calls for the Americas.
Written down, in English
Scope, decisions and progress are written down in English and kept in your project tools, so you can see where things stand from any time zone without chasing anyone.
Engineers, not account managers
You talk directly to the engineers building your software. Technical questions get technical answers, not a relay through a sales layer.
Scoped before work starts, owned by you after
Fixed-scope projects or ongoing monthly work, agreed in writing before anything starts. You own the source code, infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
Questions
Backend & API Development: common questions
Which backend languages and frameworks do you use?
Java with Spring Boot, Go, Python and Node.js, with PostgreSQL or MongoDB for data and Kafka or a queue where work needs to happen in the background. We choose based on the problem and on what your team can maintain.
Can you add an API to a system we already have?
Yes. We can design an API in front of an existing system so a new web app, mobile app or partner can use it without rewriting what already works.
Do you write tests and documentation?
Yes. APIs come with automated tests and written documentation, so another engineer can pick the work up without us in the room.
